Your First Salsa Class
Learning to dance is not only an excellent physical activity that helps to keep you fit, but also improves your posture, mental alertness and attitude towards music.
Music determines the kind of style of dance and all beginners need to listen for all the important rhythms as each dance has its own distinctive music and you need to learn how much music is required for each step taken on the dance floor.
WHAT TO WEAR
When choosing what to wear, whether for social dancing or class. one must always go in for something comfortable and appropriate for the style of dance. cloths should not be too restrictive, especially around the legs- this is a very important tip for ladies. this is important as most latin dance styles we will teach need the free movement of the arms ,hips and legs.
SHOES
Shoes are vital and they should be lightweight with flexible soles, if possible a leather sole. Advanced dancers normally wear non-skid soles made of chrome leather or similar. however one must be careful that the sole of thier shoe does not impede movement on the dance floor else it could result in knee injuries.
Beginners: Wear shoes you dont need to worry about . Trainers are perfect for this as they help you focus on learning the steps, however if you feel you are at the stage where you feel comfortable to wear professional dance shoes please feel free to do so.
SWEAT & BODY ODOUR:
Dancing is great but like as any physial activity it produces sweat, so please and please again bring a change of shirts and some deodorants, mints or gum wouldnt go badly as well.
HAVE FUN DANCING WITH DANCATION.
